Voting has begun for Gatorade national athlete of the year

On July 15, Gatorade will announce its male and female athletes of the year. The voting has begun among a select-group of experts, and Norco pitcher Matt Hobgood is one of the top candidates for the male award. Cross-country standout Jordan Hasay from San Luis Obispo Mission Prep is one of the female candidates.
Regardless, Hobgood gets to return to Southern California, if briefly, to appear at the July 15 ceremony in Los Angeles. He's pitching for the Baltimore Orioles' rookie-ball team in West Virginia.
