Baseball: No surprises in opening round of VIBL playoffs

July 24, 2009 |  8:04 am

The opening round of the Valley Invitational Baseball League playoffs produced no major surprises on Thursday, but there are lots of good second-round games set for Saturday.

The most intriguing game matches North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake and former El Camino Real Coach Matt LaCour against host El Camino Real and his former assistant, Josh Lienhard. Game time is 10 a.m., though Harvard-Westlake is missing several starters participating in an Ivy League showcase.

Another matchup has Chatsworth hosting Newhall Hart. Hart has beaten Chatsworth on occasion during the regular high school season.
