Football: Carson shows it has athletes, wins Bonita tourney

June 27, 2009 |  9:31 pm

Carson brought respect to the City Section Saturday night, winning the Bonita passing tournament with a victory over Corona Santiago and Duke-bound quarterback Brandon Connette in the final.

The Colts have a sophomore receiver, Darius Rogers, who Coach Mike Christensen is predicting big things from this fall. He and senior Brent Scott were favorite targets for junior quarterback Justin Alo. Carson went unbeaten over two days.

Santiago, under first-year Coach Jeff Steinberg, was also productive. Santiago defeated Newhall Hart in a semifinal game.
