Riverside La Sierra’s Reggie Wyatt held both arms aloft after setting a national record tonight in the boys’ 300 hurdles, finishing his heat in 35.02 seconds. It broke the record of 35.28 set by Woodland Hills Taft’s Jeshua Anderson in 2007.

Wyatt said he didn’t need to see the official results to know he had broken the record.

‘With the crowd cheering and everything, I knew I had it,’ said Wyatt, who soaked in the applause during a victory lap.

Wyatt said there was no pressure to break his record in Saturday’s championship.

‘Tomorrow I’m just going to have fun,’ he said. ‘I wouldn’t care if I got last.’
