Baseball: Weaver vs. Weaver is big news in Simi Valley

Brothers Jeff Weaver of the Dodgers and Jered Weaver of the Angels are scheduled to pitch against each other for the first time on Saturday at Angel Stadium, and that’s big news in Simi Valley, where the two went to high school. Jeff graduated from Simi Valley in 1994 and Jered in 2001.

Simi Valley Coach Matt La Belle said, ‘It’s awesome. I’ll tell you whom I’m rooting for. I’m rooting for the defense.’

La Belle wishes he could attend the game but he’s coaching in the North-South all-star series this weekend.
