How does Mike Renner win player of the year but isn't the MVP of his own league. That isn't right!!! John Wilson was by far better then Renner. They need to get it right!

I Like It Hot

Yea, he was better than Renner......EXCEPT ON THE DAY THAT IT COUNTED!

Pah

Yeah, he was better than Wilson on that one day...and there is a Title game MVP award for that. This is the player of the year. Emphasis on "year." It's ridiculous that the city player of the year wasn't his own league's MVP. Wilson put Cleveland on his back and led them to first place in one of the best leagues in the Southland. City player of the year? John Wilson.

Lefty

thank you pahhh at least someone agrees with me. john wilson was the best pitcher in the city

Who keeps the stats? Hopefully not the parents.

mike

Wilson had a great season, and was awareded mvp of the league because his team won the league. The actual mvp of the league, not of the league winning team, was Michael Booth. Booth had a great year on the mound & led the league & city in hitting with 15 home runs & a .424 batting average, did Wilson hit?Renner won city mvp because his team won the city title and dominated Wilson & Cleveland..

To the victors go the spoils. All the players mentioned are worthy, however thats not how it works. Cleveland won the league so they got the MVP. By the way that was probably decided at the coaches all-league meeting. If Chatsworth had won league then it probably would have been their guy. Maybe co-mvp but rare and not likly. MVP of the city is based on information submitted by the coaches. I think a committee of the press acually picks. Again Chatsworth won the title so they get MVP. May not be fair but thats how it works.

It would be great if the inner-city senior All City players could be invited to the All Star game at Birmingham this year. Is it just for the Valley Div. 1 guys? Or is it just by invitation?

how are u guys calling wilson mvp , did u guys see what garfield did to him. they murdered the guy , that game should have been garfields from east l.a , yes "east l.a" , thats all i gotta say

Nos Los Dramas

Guys, guys, guys. Keep in mind that high school MVP's are like little league and Major league - a popularity contest. Except in this case character doesn't count. All the selection panel looked at was W's and L's and an era submitted by a coach. I actually feel bad for Renner, he is an MVP - most valuable Pawn. Just like Takeyama was used last year. Nice kid just wanted to play ball in high school. But when you are in that program you give up over 4000 hours in high school that YOU WILL NEVER GET BACK. All that work for a banner on DeSoto. Too bad you can't sew those banners together an ride them to a 4 year college or even a 2 year college. But that's not the goal of the "program". Back to the MVP, Booth, Wilson, Cardones, etc etc all out performed the awarded one. Renner wasn't even awarded Outstanding Student Athlete at Chatsworth. That award went to, I advise that you to be sitting down, Coach's son Shawn Meusborn. Ripleys Believe it or not. Anyway that's proof of the award system. Those that follow the program know that Kloss is the true ace, even though his arm/shoulder were overused the last 3 seasons, heck even Coop was demoted to make the "General" look better.
At the end of the day the true MVP's will be found playing at a higher level and the entitled ones will be looking to be found.

Well all this pissing and moaning and wher is Willson going???? No offers !!!
Renner has several. Straight A student and great sport.

Watcher of talent

Nobody's going to the bathroom or moaning. And some people are ignoring their spell checker. And who is worried about Wilson? Now I feel for him - Lisa do you know him? And straight A's that's great! Is that for all 4 years of high school? Good sport - hardly. According to friend, foe and the Daily News. Congrats los!

Umpire4

Decent player renner may be, straight a student ok, but great sport probly not. I hate to say this but someone should anybody who has ever played in, coached in or umpired a chatsworth game says they have no class on the field. If you dont believe me thats fine but next time they play a game that means something listen to there dugout and all the negative things that come out of it towards the other team. Yes they may be first when it comes to talent but sadly last when it comes to class during a game. If they fixed that no one would ever say anything negative about them. but that wont happen for awhile.

Sam AAA

Straight A's in varsity baseball, and what else? I echo Umpire 4 about sportsmanship. I saw one game where one of C houses top hitters was heckling the umpire about balls and strikes - from the on deck circle!! It comes from the top. Coach says to do the right thing. I hear he is leaving this year. That would be the right thing for every body. MVP is the who ever gets drafted 1st. Vote Escobar.

junior

that game should have been garfields, i myself play for garfield , starting 2nd basement and went 2-3 vs. Wilson the guy you guys are calling MVP , he wasent no MVP against us let me assure you that , If we would of had home field advantage , let me tell you the results would have been a whole diifferent sttory , but still that game was ours

Eric, Why does this list not include Ron Miller INF 2nd Team as is posted on John Aguires' web site for All City Baseball Team 2009 pdf file on LA-CIF.org unless that is in error? It is curious that the LA Wave made this same ommision/error.
