Baseball: Covey gets 13 strikeouts in Maranatha victory

Junior pitcher Dylan Covey (11-2) struck out 13 in leading Pasadena Maranatha past Riverside Woodcrest Christian, 3-1, in the Southern Section Division V championship game Friday at Blair Field in Long Beach.

Camarillo Cornerstone Christian completed an unbeaten season with a 12-2 victory over Carpinteria Cate in the Division VII championship game at Blair Field. Cornerstone Christian finished 22-0.

In the Division VI final, Cypress Oxford Academy defeated Rosamond, 5-1. Steve Criss and Cameron Bedard combined on a four-hitter.
