The state track and field championships are less than a month away, and Los Angeles Cathedral sprinter Randall Carroll is headed toward peak form.

He ran the 100 meters in a scorching 10.30 seconds Thursday night at the Del Rey League finals, the fastest legal 100-meter time in 17 years in California, according to DyeStatCal.com.

It was the third-fastest legal 100 time in state history. He also won the 200 in 21.01.
