Tevin Carter has apparently gotten a lot faster since the days of the Snoop Youth Football League.

In an upset, the junior from Santee ran a 21.74 in the 200 meters today at the City Section preliminary track meet, tying favorite DeAnthony Thomas of Crenshaw for the fastest time.

‘He’s improved a lot,’ Thomas said of Carter, who played against Thomas in the league in 2005.

Carter said he held back a bit in the 100 to avoid injury but gave the 200 everything he had because ‘I feel more confident in the 200. That’s one of my favorite races.’
