North Hollywood sophomore Khorri Ellis aced the 15th hole on his way to a two-under par 70 in the final round of the City Section Golf Championships on Wednesday at Harding Gold Course in Griffith Park.

With the wind in his face, Ellis shot a 6-iron into the 177-yard par 3 and watched it land four feet in front of the hole and bounce in.

‘In the first round the pin was all the way in the back of the green but today it was in the front and I my normal distance with the 6 [iron] is 175 yards so I figured that was the perfect club,’ said Ellis, who parred the hole on Monday. ‘I thought I hit it pretty close but I couldn’t tell for sure. My coach told me what happened. I thought he was playing a prank on me.’

Ellis shot 31 on the back nine Wednesday and finished with a two-day total of 147, four off the lead.

Daniel Slovis of El Camino Real and first-round leader Brennan Amirkhizi of Taft were in the clubhouse tied atop the board at 143. If that score holds up, they’ll return to the first tee for a sudden death playoff to decide the individual champion.

Chris Lee of Granada Hills has the low round of the day so far with a three-under 69, leaving him and Kevin Cullen of Venice at 144, one stroke behind the leaders.

Venice is leading the team competition with half of the 80 golfers still on the course.
