Boys’ lacrosse: State powers to meet Saturday in Newport Beach

Two of the top boys’ lacrosse teams in California will play at 3 p.m. Saturday at Peninsula Park in Newport Beach when Corona del Mar takes on San Francisco St. Ignatius Prep.

Corona del Mar is ranked No. 1 in the Southern Section and No. 6 in the state by laxpower.com and St. Ignatius is the top-ranked team in the state. Since there are no state playoffs, this game could come close to determining an unofficial state champion.
