Chatsworth has played 23 games this season, with the Chancellors making just 21 errors. That’s the main reason the team is 21-2 overall and ranked No. 1 by The Times.

The pitchers rely on the fielders to make the plays, and the left side of the infield, with senior shortstop Kasey Toven (two errors) and senior third baseman Ryan Cooperstone (three errors), is very reliable. Then add the best defensive catcher in the City Section, Carlos Escobar Jr. (one error), and the pattern is clear.

‘Hopefully, we can continue to do that,’ Chatsworth Coach Tom Meusborn said. ‘With Toven and Cooperstone, they’ve been there for a while and have done a tremendous job.’

Chatsworth is tied for first place with Cleveland in the West Valley League. The two schools play on May 8 at Cleveland.
