Boys' basketball: Eisenhower beats Loyola again
There was no drama in the final minute this time as Eisenhower defeated Loyola for the second time in eight days, pulling out a 68-62 victory this evening at Pauley Pavilion in the Southern California Division II regional championship.
The second-seeded Eagles (31-3) took a nine-point lead into the final minute after needing a late rally to defeat the Cubs (26-7) last weekend in the Southern Section Division II-A title game.
Senior guard Andrew Bock scored 21 points for Eisenhower, which became the first San Bernardino County boys' team to advance to a state championship game.
"It's exciting," Eagles Coach Steve Johnson said. "We've been on a pretty good run here."
Senior forward Carl Hoffman had 34 points on 16-for-19 shooting and 12 rebounds for Loyola, which missed all 16 of its three-point attempts and had trouble defending Eisenhower's spread offense.
"I don't know if we've been shut out all year," Loyola Coach Jamal Adams said of his team's three-point shooting woes. "They've got tremendous speed and are as tenacious defenders as anyone we've played all year."

If you would have watched the
game prior with Leuzinger
that game was pathetic....the refs gave the game
to Eisenhower ......Leuzinger played against
7- 8 players there is one point in the game
where you can see 8 minutes of blocking and
charging against Leuzinger it's all on tape
from channel 22.
Never seen a game so pathetic....especailly a
team like Eisenhower who is a jump shoting team
with an average height of 6-2 give me a break'
no inside game. Now there going for the state champinship.

Yes, I saw the Eisenhower-Leuzinger game and decided to watch the regional championship game between Eisenhower and Loyola. The comments by Saja are a rediculous evaluation of the game. Refs rarely win a game, and the refs didn't win either of these games. The Eisenhower team has incredibly well-coached, disciplined players who prove that small guys can win when you can set up your shots, shoot the eyes out of basket, and have tenacious defense. Cudos to the Eisenhower team!

Eisenhower played great defense against a Leuzinger team that kept driving "out of control" to the basket.
Eisenhower also had it's share of blocking and charging calls against themduring the game.
It was a hard fought win for Eisenhower. Leuzinger was tough.
