SACRAMENTO--Talk about wild momentum swings.

Bishop Montgomery had a one-point lead and its best player, senior guard Justin Cobbs, at the free throw line with seven seconds left today in the state Division IV championship game at Arco Arena.

Cobbs missed the front end of a one and one and Salesian grabbed the rebound. Pride forward Desmond Simmons, who had scored 31 points and grabbed 19 rebounds, dribbled frantically upcourt but lost the ball. Guard Jabari Brown picked it up and passed to sophomore forward Kendall Andrews, whose layup at the buzzer gave Salesian a 65-64 victory and set off a wild celebration in which Andrews immediately ripped off his jersey.

Cobbs finished with 24 points but will long be haunted by the missed free throw. Bishop Montgomery had led, 59-50, midway through the fourth quarter. Simmons scored 13 points in the final quarter.
