Football: UCLA goes after USC commits this weekend

January 6, 2009 | 11:01 am

UCLA isn't shying away from going after a couple of USC football commits. This weekend, Birmingham receiver De'Von Flournoy and Cathedral receiver Randall Carroll  are scheduled to take a recruiting visit to Westwood.

Also joining them is a former UCLA commit, safety Marlon Pollard from Cajon, who changed his mind and committed to Notre Dame.

Carroll said Tuesday he remains committed to USC but is also taking trips this month to Florida and Tennessee.

This is the way recruiting is going these days, with schools never giving up until letter-of-intent day on Feb. 4.

Too bad (not really) that UCLA doesn't know what to do with any recruits who are ignorant enough to choose to play for the Bruins rather than the Trojans. Maybe the lack of intelligence (picking UCLA over USC) is manifested on the playing field, where the "gutty little Bruins" are almost always outplayed by the far superior Trojans. HA!
