Football: Pelini to visit Centennial's Martinez
Nebraska Coach Bo Pelini is scheduled to pay a home visit to Corona Centennial quarterback Taylor Martinez this week. Martinez wants to play quarterback for Nebraska, which already has a prized incoming quarterback recruit in Cody Green of Dayton, Texas.
Green and Martinez reportedly spent a lot of time together during a recent visit to Lincoln. Nebraska has recruited Martinez as an "athlete" but has told The Times' Glenn Davis Award winner that he would have a chance to compete for the quarterback spot.

To M.R.. Trust me thier are no other sports in Nebraska. While Creighton bball and other Nebraska schools have teams, Nebraska Football is everything, numero UNO. If Nebraska Baseball breaks through and wins a College World Series it would still be a corner note to whatever the football team did that year. If you dont believe me just try and get a ticket, and season tickets? Forget about it. I live in Phoenix AZ, and still pay $2,000 a year for my season tickets, I just dont want to give them up because I know I probobly wont have another chance to get them.
GBR!

M.R. Rieda..I think you confirmed there are NO other sports in the state. I consider your comments goofy, comparing UNO and UNK to UN's sports programs?? Get a clue dude!

To AZHuskerAlum..."no other sports in the state" ???
I think Creighton, UNO, and UNK might take exception to that goofy comment. Not to mention the AAA Royals, Lancers etc etc. Sheesh.

From what I've heard, Taylor might just be better then Cody Green. That's alright with me, Go Huskers

I wish this young man sucess, I strongly suggest that he and his parents take a look at Coach Pelini's Campionship ring, Because many more of these rings are coming home to Lincoln in a few short years. Also be aware that you are likely to become a houshold name in the entire state. College football is what the state lives for, There are no other sports in the state.

I hope Taylor is flexible and/or patient because aside from the incoming stud Green, they also have 3 QB's in the pipeline...all of which are very good. I can see him being utilized like Randel El with the Redskins (occasional trick QB plays).

Martinez verbally agreed to Nebraska a month or two ago.

There is plenty of room in the spread option for two Quarterbacks in on the same play. I just hope Martinez will find the field - the Nebraska staff is great at identifying strengths and putting players in position to succeed.

If Taylor accepts Nebraska's offer it will be the first of many good decisions this young man will make.
