June 6, 2008 |  5:31 pm

The most interesting selection here at the end of the draft  Friday, as far as the Southland is concerned, was that of pitcher Casey Fry in Round 46 of the Major League Baseball first-year player draft. Round 45: Colin Rooney, shortstop from Saddleback College by way of Esperanza High, was drafted 1,350th by the Washington Nationals, and Jared Clark, first baseman from Cal State Fullerton by way of Valencia High, was taken by the Angels with pick No. 1,366.
