Football: View Park claims City 8-man crown

December 4, 2008 | 10:30 pm

View Park (11-1) won its second eight-man football championship in three years, edging Annenberg 36-28 in tonight’s championship game at Contreras.

The Knights won the Southern Section Division I eight-man championship in 2006, then were semifinalists last year in the first year of City Section competition. Annenberg (10-2) finishes as runner-up for the second consecutive season; the Panthers fell to Fulton Prep in the inaugural City title game a year ago.

My wife teaches at Annemberg High School. I have attended most of the games this season. I am proud of the coaches and the players for behaving like gentlemen win lose or draw! I was priviledged to see the championship game in which both teams played well! Congratulations to View Park for a fine season! I especially want to point out that our school has made it to the championship game two years in a row! Wel done boys we'll get them next year!
