Not much has been settled in the first half of the Trinity League showdown between Mater Dei and Orange Lutheran.

The teams have battled to a 7-7 tie after Lutheran marched 80 yards and scored on quarterback Bobby Wheatley’s one-yard plunge with 29 seconds left in the second quarter. The Lancers have converted three of four fourth-down attempts.

After a shaky opening drive, Mater Dei quarterback Matt Barkley has started to look more comfortable. He completed a 45-yard pass and a nine-yard touchdown pass on the Monarchs’ scoring drive. Mater Dei running back Jaron Hytche has gained 45 yards in 10 carries.

Wheatley has completed 11 of 16 passes for 57 yards and running back Kyle Dravis has 45 yards in seven carries. Lutheran will get the ball first to start the second half.
