Football: D.J. Morgan and coach talk about Taft's victory

November 26, 2008 | 11:41 pm

Taft beat San Fernando, 40-17, in the Valley Mud Bowl -- I mean, the City Section Championship Division quarterfinals -- on Wednesday night, and Taft running back D.J. Morgan was the star.

The USC-bound junior didn't let a mud patch the size Luxembourg (OK, maybe it wasn't quite that big) stop him from tallying 176 yards and four touchdowns in 25 carries. And with numbers like that, I couldn't let some mud prevent me from going down on the field to have a quick post-game interview. Check it out:

Also, here's an old-fashion audio interview with Taft coach Matt Kerstetter after the game. As you will hear, he really wanted to know that Narbonne-Birmingham score, but I couldn't help him out at the time.
