Football: Was it a conspiracy or spectacular talent?

UCLA football Coach Rick Neuheisel never materialized at the Los Osos-Bishop Amat game on Friday night, and now I’m thinking his so-called ‘planned visit’ was all a conspiracy.

I figure the Los Osos mastermind (a.k.a Coach Tom Martinez) must have come up with the ‘Neuheisel visit’ stunt shortly before kickoff on Friday. He knew the Lancers would make things interesting to the very end and he wanted to use the perfect carrot on a stick for QB Richard Brehaut.

Sure, I know Brehaut’s talented, but his 23-yard touchdown pass to Arby Fields on fourth down and goal in the fourth quarter of the Grizzlies’ 24-20 victory was simply amazing. The UCLA commit admitted to thinking Neuheisel was somewhere in the stadium when he made that pass, but he didn’t speculate as to whether or not he was subconsciously trying to get on the good side of his future boss.

I guess we’ll just have to conclude that Brehaut is definitely one of the best QBs in the Southland.

Check out this postgame interview to find out more. Some people told me Neuheisel did show up, but after the game, no one on the Los Osos coaching staff said they saw him. So, I was still under the Neuheisel-must-be-here-somewhere influence when I shot this video.
