Football: Carson-Mater Dei is going into overtime

September 3, 2008 |  9:13 pm

Regulation has ended in a 34-34 deadlock, so Carson and Mater Dei will go into overtime.

Quarterback Matt Barkley of Mater Dei has passed for 281 yards and four touchdowns but he has been intercepted three times, the last of which came in the end zone in the fourth quarter. He has completed 13 of 28 passes.

Carson running back Ezekial Graham has rushed for 129 yards. Morrell Presley has caught four passes for 95 yards.

With 1:23 left, Stephen Lapchak intercepted a pass from Carson quarterback Daniel Torres, giving Mater Dei the ball on its own seven. But the Monarchs were in no hurry and ran out the clock.

Each team will get a shot at scoring, taking over the ball on the 10-yard line.
