Baseball: Santa Margarita's Thompson commits to UCLA

September 24, 2008 |  8:23 pm

Trayce Thompson, a basketball-baseball standout at Santa Margarita, has committed to UCLA for baseball. The 6-foot-4 senior outfielder is the son of former NBA standout Mychal Thompson and has two older brothers set to play college basketball this season for Pepperdine and Washington State.

"Baseball has always been his first love," basketball Coach Jerry DeBusk said. "He told me it's been his dream to be a major league player."

The question is whether Thompson will play basketball this season, and DeBusk said Wednesday he has not heard a final answer.
