Football: UCLA makes offer to Diamond Ranch cornerback

July 10, 2008 | 11:30 pm

Moving fast after having lost two defensive backs who had committed, UCLA has made an offer to  Diamond Ranch's Brandon Sermons. Wednesday, the Bruins made an offer to Upland's Osahon Irabor.

Sermons said he is feeling great having picked up the offer from the Bruins, but, then again, wouldn't you feel great if you had just picked up your 12th offer?

That's right, Sermons said he has a dozen offers on the table. They are: Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado State, Colorado, Idaho, Oregon, Oregon State, San Diego State, UCLA, Utah, Washington and Washington State. Even though Sermons has his pick of colleges, the senior is in no rush to make a decision.

“Not really. I’m just accepting them as they come. I have all my options open for all schools. I’m not leaning one way or another," Sermons said. "I think I'll make my decision at the end of the year, closer to the end of the year."

Sermons is the younger brother of former USC tailback Rodney Sermons. In Week 5 of the upcoming season, the brothers will be on opposing sidelines when Diamond Ranch travels to Bishop Amat, where the older Sermons is an assistant coach.

If the Bruins get commitments from both Irabor and Sermons, it might make some forget that the program took a hit when it had two dee-bees decommit, including Narbonne's Bryan Moore, who left for USC, no less.
