Football: Corona Santiago has a QB star in the making

June 19, 2008 |  2:07 pm

Forgive Corona Santiago Coach Steve Mitchell if he smiles when talking about junior quarterback Brandon Connette, but he can't wait to turn him loose.

The 6-foot-2 Connette, who has a 4.2 grade-point average, has been a standout on the combine circuit and was the most impressive quarterback Friday at a USC passing tournament that also featured teams from Carson, L.A. Jordan, Bishop Amat and Loyola.

In an area that already features senior standouts Richard Brehaut from Los Osos and Josh Nunes from Upland, Connette is ready to lead the class of 2010.
