After spending a majority of the afternoon at the CIF state track & field championships in Cerritos, I figured it was time to switch gears and go check out some hoops over at USC’s Galen Center, the site of the 6th annual Pangos All-American camp. And the trip was well worth it, considering all the talent on display at the showcase.

Several of the nation’s top underclassmen were in attendance, including John Wall from Raleigh (N.C.) Word of God Christian Academy. Wall is widely considered the top prospect among the 2009 class. Another big name on hand was San Diego’s Jeremy Tyler, thought to be the best of the best from the 2010 class.

The Southland was well represented too. Victor Rudd, from Van Nuys, opened some eyes, as did Mater Dei’s Gary Franklin and Windward’s Darius Morris. Can’t forget to mention that Fairfax’s Solomon Hill, Colony’s Tyler Lamb, West Valley’s Joe Burton and Rancho Verde’s Michael Snaer showed well.

I’m thinking about heading back out to Los Angeles on Sunday to catch some of the action from the final day of camp. There promises to be some entertaining games throughout the morning and afternoon, highlighted by the 12:30 p.m. game, featuring Wall, Tyler, and the rest of the bunch, for that matter.
