Two players from the Inland Empire were selected Friday during Round 37 of Major League Baseball’s first-year player draft.

Matthew Andriese, a right-handed pitcher from Redlands East Valley, was chosen 1,113th by the Texas Rangers, and Matthew Johnson, an outfielder from North High, was taken by the Philadelphia Phillies with the No. 1,126 pick.

Erik Hamren, a right-handed pitcher from Saddleback College by way of Tesoro High and University of the Pacific, was selected by the Chicago Cubs with pick No. 1,121. Though MLB.com lists Hamren as a Saddleback player, he is not on the Gauchos roster on their website. Where’s Erik?
