Baseball: San Dimas' Leyland taken by Rays in Round 36

June 6, 2008 |  3:27 pm

Jordan Leyland, a first baseman from San Dimas High, was drafted 1,073rd overall by the Tampa Bay Rays Friday in Major League Baseball's first-year draft. Leyland, who has a scholarship to UC Irvine, was the first player selected in Round 36.

Chris Notti, a right-handed pitcher from Moorpark College by way of Calabasas High, was chosen 1,085th by the St. Louis Cardinals, and Patrick Rose, an outfielder from UC Santa Barbara by way of Aliso Niguel High, was selected by the Colorado Rockies with pick No. 1,097.

If I've missed any of our local players who have been drafted out of college, let me know!

-- Jaime Cardenas
