Baseball: Locals make U.S. under-16 trials team

Valencia sophomore shortstop Christian Lopes is among the 36 players selected to compete for a spot on the 18-man under-16 U.S. national team roster. The team will train in Miami in August and compete in the Pan-Am Youth Championships.

Also invited for the trials are pitcher Cody Buckel from Royal, outfielder Angelo Gumbs from Torrance, outfielder Michael Lorenzen from Fullerton, outfielder Eric Snyder from Edison and pitcher Peter Tago from Dana Hills.
