Softball: Record-setting Simi Valley facing a challenge

May 8, 2008 | 10:39 am

100_2026 Heading into its regular-season finale against Agoura this afternoon, Simi Valley as already achieved something no other team in Ventura County has ever done.

Following its 8-2 victory over Royal on Tuesday, the Pioneers not only clinched the Marmonte League title, but also posted a county-record 26th consecutive victory.

It's an accomplishment the Pioneers should definitely feel good about it, but they can't overlook the Chargers. Last time these teams met, Simi Valley escaped with a 1-0 victory. This time, however, Agoura has a chance at securing third place in league (if Newbury Park beats Royal) and the better playoff seeding that comes with the territory.

We'll see what happens this afternoon.

And that's Simi Valley's Briana DeFlavio in the photo.
