Softball: La Reina remains in front of Burroughs after five innings

La Reina jumped to a four-run lead in the first inning during Wednesday's Southern Section-Toyota Division III wild-card game against Burroughs, and the host Regents have made their lead stand up, taking a 7-3 advantage into the sixth inning in Thousand Oaks.

Kaitlynne Birkett has done a fair job from the pitcher's circle for La Reina.

The right-hander has scattered five hits, struck out seven and worked herself out of two bases-loaded jams in five innings. Burroughs seems frustrated. Making matters worse, the Indians are running out of time.
