Football: Chris Rix new QB coach at Bishop Amat

May 12, 2008 | 11:49 pm

Former Florida State quarterback Chris Rix has joined the Bishop Amat coaching staff.

The Lancers staff, which already included NFL and USC star Daylon McCutcheon as defensive coordinator, is likely to be the most star-studded staff in the Southland next season. Will that translate into more victories? Time will tell.

Here's a short video of Rix working with quarterbacks Josiah Thropay, a 6-foot-4 freshman, and Nick Lenhart, a junior.

Rix, 27, who last year was a football analyst on a range of local and national networks, will mainly be in charge of working with projected starter junior Nick Lenhart and freshman transfer Josiah Thropay.

Rix is no stranger to Amat, of course. Lancer diehards will remember that he attended Bishop Amat for three years before transferring to Santa Margarita for his senior season in 1999.
