Boys' volleyball: Palisades prevails in five games for City title
It came down to one game for the City Section's Championship Division title and Palisades won it, 15-11, and captured its first section title in 10 years Saturday at Cal State Northridge.
The second-seeded Dolphins prevailed, 25-14, 22-25, 19-25, 25-23, 15-11, over ninth-seeded El Camino Real. Kene Izuchukwu led the way with 19 kills and setter Scott Vegas had 49 assists as Palisades ended the West Valley League's string of nine consecutive City titles. Mikel Du Boise led the Conquistadores with 17 kills.
El Camino Real wasn't supposed to have much of a chance against the higher-seeded Dolphins but apparently didn't get the memo. The Conquistadores led two games to one and had Palisades on the ropes in the fourth game, building leads of 14-6 and 18-13 before the Dolphins showed their mettle by rallying to win it and level the match.

Palisades boys proved once and for all that they are the best team in the city, prevailing over a strong and talented El Camino team. Its a shame city teams aren't invited to the state playoffs.
