Boys’ golf: Granada Hills off to fast start at Harding

Chris Kim shot a two-under-par 35 on the front nine to spark Granada Hills to an early lead in the first round of the City Section golf championship.

Kim was the medalist at last week’s 6A League finals and has carried that momentum over to Griffith Park’s Harding Golf Course. Joining Kim at 35 through nine holes was Gary Valdez of San Pedro. Three players were one shot off the lead at the turn -- Granada Hills’ Dohnte Allison, Franklin’s Bernard Leon, and Justin Nakagiri of Venice.

At 188, Granada Hills leads the team competition, 17 strokes ahead of 2A League champion Venice.
