Boys' basketball: Morro Bay star Royer staying close to home

Morro Bay standout Dylan Royer has committed to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, choosing the Mustangs over offers from UC San Diego, Westmont and Concordia. Royer has been accepted as invited walk-on for the 2008-09 season by Mustangs Coach Kevin Bromley.

"Dylan brings a tremendous amount of competitive spirit to the court and I love the way he shoots the ball," Bromley said in a release. "His unselfish play will bring a lot to the team."

Royer averaged 22.5 ppg and 6.8 rpg for the Pirates as a senior. The 6-foot-2 guard led Morro Bay to 20-8 record and a second-round appearance in the Southern Section-Toyota Division III-AA playoffs.
