Softball: Opponents are struck by Moon sisters at Torrance

April 8, 2008 |  9:32 pm

Moon_2 I've always been fascinated by the moon. It affects everything from the oceans to radio signals to madmen. It's so predictable yet appears as the most mysterious object in the sky.

And, since I'm on the topic, let me segue to another moon or two... Jamie and Jessica, the Moon sisters at Torrance. Just the other day, Jamie singled in the winning run while Jessica threw a four-hitter with 12 strikeouts and no walks in a 1-0 victory over Santa Margarita (12-5-1).

Jamie's hitting .357 with nine RBIs and Jessica is 5-0 with a 0.57 ERA with 67 strikeouts in 36 2/3 innings. So, with two Moons like this, I expect the Tartars (11-3, 2-0) to eclipse the rest of the Pioneer League.

Let's wrap up with a trivia question: Speaking of two Moons, which planet has two?

Let's see, earth's got a lot more than two -- Warren, Keith, Sun Myung, and that's not even counting the two Tartars.

Might it be Mars?
