Basketball: Pittsburgh coach is coming to town to be honored

Dixon Pittsburgh basketball Coach Jamie Dixon is returning to the Southland Saturday to be honored by his alma mater, Sherman Oaks Notre Dame, at the school’s annual Knights of Honor dinner-auction gala at the Universal Sheraton.

Dixon, a 1983 Notre Dame graduate, will be honored with his sister, Maggie, a 1995 Notre Dame graduate who was the women's coach at Army in 2006 when she died from heart arrhythmia.

UCLA Coach Ben Howland, a close family friend, will introduce Dixon. Jimmy Kimmel is the master of ceremonies at the event. Information: (818) 933-3608.
