SCIBCA names top players in Southern Section

Clipart The top boys' basketball players from each Southern Section division were announced today by the Southern California Interscholastic Basketball Coach Assn.

Jordan Hamilton of Dominguez, David Wear of Mater Dei and DeMar DeRozan of Compton were selected tri-players of the year in Division I-AA. Russell Otis of Dominguez and Ted Hollister of Long Beach Wilson were named co-coaches of the year.

In Division I-A, Eric Wise of Riverside King and his coach, Tim Sweeney, earned top honors after leading the Wolves to the Southern California Regional final.

Aaron Ware and Justin Cobbs of Bishop Montgomery are co-players of the year in Division II-AA, and Jerry De Fabiis of Colony is coach of the year.

In Division II-A, Mike Snaer of Rancho Verde and Coach Travis Showalter earned top honors.

Jrue Holiday of Campbell Hall, who led his team to a Division IV state title, along with his coach, Terry Kelly, were recognized in Division III-AA.

In Division III-A, Eric Lawton of West Valley and Robert Smith of Perris, both juniors, were named co-players of the year, and West Valley Coach Chuck Peebles and Perris Coach Elzie Landers were named co-coaches of the year.

Timothy Butler of Patriot and Coach Monty Owens were recognized in Division IV-AA. In Division IV-A, Montreal Harris of Twentynine Palms and Cerritos Valley Christian Coach Bryan Brandenhorst earned top honors.

Keith Shamburger of La Verne Lutheran and Alex Osborne of Pacific Hills were co-players of the year in Division V-AA, and Ivan Barahona of Pacific Hills was coach of the year. In Division V-A, Raymund Bernas of Rosamond and teammate Donte Day were co-players of the year and their coach, Tim Atkerson, was coach of the year.
