Boys' soccer: SOCES' overly aggressive style was costly

Soces I don't think SOCES was caught up in the moment; after all, they were the defending Small Schools Division champion. Even though they were seeded 12th in this year's City tournament, the Knights knew how to win.

But it was obviously apparent that SOCES was going to play on top of the line of decency and sportsmanship in Friday's title match against Elizabeth Learning Center. And if they crossed the line occasionally, well, stuff happens.

There were seven yellow cards issued by the referee, and I believe four or five went to SOCES. The Knights also gave up two penalty kicks; both were converted by Bulldogs sophomore forward Luis Suarez and were the difference in Elizabeth's 4-3 victory.

I don't know if SOCES will see anything else about Friday's game except a loss. But sometimes it's not just if you win or lose, it's how you play the game.

Did you actuallly see the game? Worst officating ever and the Elizabeth team sure knows how to flop. The ref lost control of the game early on and it was apparent when the Elizabeth team provoked a fight at center field after scording what turned out to be the winning goal and not a yellow card to be seen.

Unfortunately when a team plays against another team that is mentally, tactically, and physically prepared they have no other option than bringing them down with their physical game. I am not favoring a team, but when a team is playing a "football" game instead of a "futbol" game then they forget about the point of scoring goals. In my point of view, since the beginning of the game around the 8th minute #25 from ELC took a knee from a SOCES player, what about the slide tackle #2 from SOCES tried to give to #9 of ELC, unfortunately in this case #2 got the worse and hurt his ankle. What about #10 from the SOCES team, instead of playing all he did was hit the oponnent. I understand that #7 from ELC hit a SOCES player, but I think he was already fed up with dirty play. The altercation in the midfield was caused by #18 of SOCES, knowing that he was loseing that was his way of taking out his anger. It was smart of the ELC coach to try to control his team by maiking them play their. That was the reason the outcome came in their favor.

"SOCES' overly aggressive style was costly" are u kidding me did you even watch the game? how dare u say the knights were overly aggressive and it cost them the game. the ref was horrible and elizabeth st. were falling like girls and the ref bought all of it and gave out lots of cards to knights. maybe you should get your facts straight. Elizabeth street was playing just as rough as the knights. Do a better job of writings articles. "I don't know if SOCES will see anything else about Friday's game except a loss." wow are you kidding me i didnt know aritcles could be written so one sided like that how dare you say that about a highschool team. You shouldnt be doing highschool sports you should be doing something else.
