Boys' basketball: Campbell Hall jumps out to early lead

March 1, 2008 |  9:17 am

If Austin McBroom was nervous for Saturday's Southern Section Division III-AA championship game he sure didn't show it. The Campbell Hall freshman hit three short jumpers from the baseline in the early going and added a 3-pointer from the top of the key to spark the Vikings, who lead Price, 23-13, at the end of the first quarter.

McBroom's effectiveness has allowed Jrue Holiday to freelance. The UCLA-bound senior is making a difference all over the court, scoring, rebounding and distributing the ball. Holiday has eight points, four rebounds and two assists in the first eight minutes.

McBroom and Holiday aren't the only ones that have been impressive thus far. The Knights' Tyreese Breshers, a Washington commit, is monster. The 6-foot-7, 240-plus pound senior is dominating the inside. But he needs help from teammates Allan Crabbe and Kennith Albritton if Price is going to make a game of it.
