After beginning the season 6-0 and ranked No. 1 by the Times, Thousand Oaks has fallen on hard times.

The Lancers have dropped six of their last seven, including the first game of Tuesday’s pool-play doubleheader in the Anaheim Lions tournament, to Chino Hills.

Thousand Oaks will try and get well against Tesoro. Not an easy task, considering the Titans are 10-2 entering the 4:30 p.m. contest at Brookhurst Park in Anaheim.

Lancers Coach Frank Mutz is not happy with his team’s implosion, blaming the demise on the Lancers’ inability of late to play defense.

But Mutz remains optimistic Thousand Oaks can regroup. ‘I honestly feel this is a phase they are going through,’ he said.
