No doubt Chris Petrucelli, the women’s soccer coach at Texas, has a smile on his face today. Three of the top prep seniors in Southern California signed letters of intent to play for the Longhorns in the fall: striker Amanda Lisberger, goaltender Shaine Millheiser and midfielder/forward Courtney Goodson.

Lisberger is the all-time career scoring leader in the Olympic League, having netted 20 or more goals in each of her four varsity seasons at Brentwood. Born in South Korea, she’s been invited to join the Korean Republic national team pool for the next World Cup.

Millheiser, one of the most heavily-recruited goalies in the country, lives in San Juan Capistrano and attends San Clemente High. She was a member of the U.S. National Team pool from 2005-07 and was named ‘Best Defensive Player’ and ‘Best Goalkeeper’ at the elite Nike Premier 50 Camp in Portland, Ore. Goodson, captain of three-time CIF champion San Diego Cathedral, is a first-team All-CIF, All-North County and All-Western League selection.

The ‘Texas Trio’ were teammates on the Camarillo-based Eagles Soccer Club U17 team that won the national championship in July.
