Another nice victory for L.A. University on Monday, defeating LACES, 71-59, in Western League play. The Wildcats improved to 14-5, 1-0 with the victory.

University might be good enough to contend for one of the 16 CIty championship playoff berths this season. However, the Wildcats opted to compete for one of the 24 berths in the Invitational championship playoffs.

Does Coach Steve Ackerman want to change his mind?

‘No,’ he said. ‘I think we’re a good team. But since we play Westchester and Fairfax, and also Palisades, the place we’d come in league is between third and last. The seed we would get would be so low, we would be on the road against quality team … and wind up feeling empty even with a good year.’
