Mater Dei's Rollinson puts end to rumors of his retirement

January 11, 2008 |  6:26 pm

Barkley There have been rumors that Santa Ana Mater Dei football Coach Bruce Rollinson might retire. In simple terms, that's baloney. I ran into Rollinson Friday night as he was leaving the Mater Dei campus, and he said he's going nowhere.

Why would he even think of retiring with All-American quarterback Matt Barkley, pictured, returning? He also said he expects to hear from new UCLA Coach Rick Neuheisel, who he had contact with when Neuheisel coached at Colorado.

He made it clear he doesn't tell his players to go to USC despite his ties to the Trojans. He said he had a good relationship with former Bruin Coach Karl Dorrell and looks forward to his dealings with Neuheisel.
