Gardena Serra boys' basketball has momentum at right time
Sure, the Gardena Serra Cavaliers are clicking. And sure, they own a six-game winning streak and just won a heart-stopper over Chaminade. But do they have enough momentum and talent to capture the Del Rey League crown? You would think they do, but one powerhouse looms in their path: the No. 11th-ranked Bishop Mongomery Knights, who squashed Serra, 63-52, in early December.
Will Serra (11-3) find remdemption when the team meet again on Jan. 11? Or will the Knights (10-5) prove too powerful? Or maybe a sleeper team will sneak to the top. We'll find out soon. Del Rey League play begins Wednesday, when Serra plays at Bosco Tech and Bishop Montgomery goes up against host St. Bernard.

Mr. Stitt, actually Bishop Montgomery's record is 10-4. There is an error in Max Preps. North Torrance has not beaten them so it appears scores were input incorrectly. Also, Del Rey league play begins this Friday, Jan 4th.
Go Knights!

BM fan,
Yeah, MaxPreps lists North Torrance as an 81-68 winner over Bishop Montgomery on Dec. 13. If that's a mistake, hopefully somebody will correct it soon. As for the opening of Del Rey League play, yes, that DOES begin Friday night, with Bishop Montgomery at Bishop Amat and St. Bernard at Bosco Tech. Serra plays a nonleague game at North Torrance that same evening.
Thanks for reading,
