Birmingham linebackers coach headed to Canyon

December 21, 2007 |  3:59 pm

Cro2 Kevin Thomas, a volunteer outside linebackers coach on City champion Birmingham's staff, was named the defensive coordinator at Canyon Country Canyon.

Thomas, who has spent the past eight seasons at Birmingham, told the Los Angeles Daily News that working under Coach Ed Croson "is what got me this opportunity.''

Croson, pictured, said he will miss Thomas, but is happy he's getting the chance at Canyon.

"You hope guys can come into our program, learn something and move on," Croson said. "Every year we've got to find some coaches [who can volunteer]. You want to send them off better for the experience, but you also attract guys who want to work with the kids."
