Throw records out the window when these two tangle

November 30, 2007 |  1:41 pm

Oak There's no love loss when it come to these two. Football rivalries within Ventura County borders don't get much bigger, or more intense. The feud between Oaks Christian and Oak Park ensues tonight, on a huge stage, I might add, the Northwest Division playoff semifinals with the winner advancing to the title game next weekend.

Before a Tri-Valley League showdown in mid-October I blogged about Oak Park not holding up its end of the bargain in the rivalry department. Guess it fired up the Eagles, who went out and won, 25-20. They still have a ways to go to even up the series. The Lions lead, 6-2, and have won three consecutive postseason meetings against their counterparts.

I'm not real big on predictions, but you know what, I think Oaks Christian has Oak Park's number and there's not much the Eagles can do about it. The Lions win, 28-14. The experts over at Calpreps.com seem to agree, also picking Oaks Christian to prevail, 31-21. One thing is certain, these teams don't need any added motivation to get up for this game.
