Adopt-a-Pet: Robinson the beagle mix [Updated]

January 17, 2011 |  9:06 pm

Robinson If you're looking to add a sweet, small and undeniably unique-looking dog to your family, allow us to introduce Robinson (ID #A1177355). This gentle dog with an adorably crooked underbite is  waiting for a new home at the L.A. Department of Animal Services' crowded South L.A. shelter.

Breed: Robinson's lineage probably contains some beagle, and shelter volunteers speculate that his thin, leggy frame could indicate some Italian greyhound in his background as well.

Age: About 1 year; Weight: 21 pounds

About Robinson: He's a favorite of shelter staff and volunteers, who are working diligently to make sure that he finds an adopter. They describe him as shy and gentle when he first meets a new person -- but when he begins to feel comfortable, his tail starts wagging wildly.

"He is the gentlest soul imaginable, with a wonderfully soft, sweet nature," says shelter volunteer and Animal Match Rescue Team Inc. founder Laura Beth Heisen. "This charmingly bashful boy snuggles beside you for comfort, and warms up appreciatively with any kindness you show."

For more information: Meet Robinson in person at the South L.A. shelter, 3612 11th Ave; watch a video to see him in action (he's even cuter than he is in this picture, if you can believe it); or call (888) 4LAPET1 with his ID number to learn more.

[Update 1/20: Robinson has been pulled from the shelter by a local pet rescue group. Congratulations, Robinson!]

Shelter staff, volunteers and 501(c)(3) pet rescue charities in Southern California: Got an adoptable pet you think we should feature here? E-mail us a short bio and photo or video embed code. We'll showcase as many pets as we can, but please note that we may not be able to post all submissions.
