Adopt-a-Pet: Roxy the Chihuahua
If you're looking to adopt a tiny new family member, Roxy (ID# A416920) may just be the dog for you. Roxy is awaiting adoption at the Long Beach Animal Care Services shelter.
Breed: Deer-headed Chihuahua
Age: About 5 years
Weight: 5 pounds
About Roxy: She's a special favorite of shelter volunteers, who are working hard to find her a home with someone who will love her as much as they do! She came into the shelter as a stray on Oct. 20, and despite the fact that she had painted toenails -- which would seem to indicate that she'd been someone's pet -- no one came to claim her.
Since then, she's had a hard time dealing with the coldness of the shelter (which is why she's modeling a faux-fur-lined doggie coat in her photo here). But she's shown off her charming personality to everyone she's met. "Roxy is friendly, sweet and cute as could be, and she gets along very nicely with her shelter mates," shelter volunteer Louise Montgomery says.
For more information: Meet Roxy in person at the Long Beach Animal Care Center (Kennel 717), 7700 Spring Street, or call volunteer Louise Montgomery at (562) 897-5282 to learn more.

Awwww.....such a sweet looking little girl!
Love her chic accessory - hope she doesn't have to stay in the cold shelter for long. And those curly ears! So cute!
Any dog that will sit still long enough for a mani-pedi is amazingly patient, happy to please and submissive. My little pooch sure wouldn’t let me do that. She'd be out the back door hiding in the azaleas if I tried to paint her nails.
She looks very sweet. Hope she gets a wonderful home - and quick.
