There’s a lot to love about giant pandas.

They’re alarmingly cute -- or, rather, they become alarmingly cute after they pass an early, awkward phase in which they resemble sparsely furred pink jelly beans. Their black-and-white markings inspire such warm feelings in humans that some of us even dye our dogs to resemble them.

Got extra bamboo lying around? A giant panda can get rid of it for you, no problem.

They’re not the best athletes, but they sure can dance.

And man, do they know how to party!

A new Tumblr blog, called (duh) Panda Loves To Party, has been documenting that fact in loving detail over the past few days. What’s the blog about? ‘The timeless charm of pandas eating cakes. That is all,’ its anonymous author explains.

When we look back on some of our favorite giant panda photos, we’re shocked no one thought of compiling the shots of pandas celebrating birthdays and holidays in a single Tumblr blog sooner. All we can say is, we’re glad someone has finally stepped up to the plate. (Our deepest gratitude goes out to BoingBoing for alerting us to this delightful panda-photo phenomenon.)
